1. Our Approach to Children’s Privacy
Coorabook is designed for general audiences, including students, parents, and adult users.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We are committed to complying with applicable child privacy laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), where applicable.
2. Use of the App by Children
Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to create accounts or use the App.
If a child accesses the App, it should be under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete such information within a reasonable timeframe, and typically within 30 days.
3. Information Collection Policy
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13.
All accounts are intended to be created and managed by users aged 13 or older.
If any data relating to a child is identified, it is treated as unintentional and subject to deletion.
4. Book Scanning and OCR Processing
Coorabook allows users to scan book covers using the device camera.
When a book is scanned:
• The captured image may be processed to extract text such as book titles or ISBN numbers.
• This process may use optical character recognition (OCR) technology provided by services such as Google Cloud Vision API.
Captured images are:
• processed temporarily to identify books
• not permanently stored on our servers
Images are not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or unrelated purposes.
5. Automated Processing and Recommendations
Some features of the App may use automated technologies or AI-based systems to organize book information and generate recommendations.
These systems analyze general usage patterns and book-related data to improve the user experience.
They are not designed to profile children or target them specifically.
6. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the App, including:
• Google Firebase (authentication and database services)
• Google Cloud services (OCR processing)
• ISBNdb (book metadata services)
These services process data only as necessary to provide App functionality and operate under their own privacy policies.
7. How Information Is Used
Information collected through the App is used to:
• Provide book discovery features
• Maintain personal reading libraries
• Improve reading recommendations
• Improve app performance and reliability
• Provide customer support when requested
We do not sell personal information.
We do not use personal data for targeted advertising to children.
8. Parental Rights
If a parent or guardian believes that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, they may contact us to request:

• Correction or deletion
• Restriction of further data processing

However, no system can guarantee complete security.
